Jamna

Today, Jamna no longer wakes at 5:00 am and walks 5-7 hours to collect water across the searing desert.

Thanks to the construction of her family’s brand new rainwater harvesting tank, her family has clean water.  Jamna is now going to school.  She has a brand new school uniform, backpack and bicycle.  Tejo Devi, Jamna’s mother, is growing wheat and millet on her own farmland.  Water from a Khadin provides irrigation for her crops.  Tejo Devi is also growing green vegetables and desert fruits for nutrition.  Jamna is a keen student and is determined to make the most of the opportunity she has received.
