Kiran

One year ago, twelve year-old Kiran would wake up at 5:00 am and then join her mother and sister in walking hours to collect water.  She frequently suffered from heat stroke due to the scorching heat. She never imagined that she would be able to attend school.

Today Kiran’s life has been transformed.  Kiran is enrolled in school.  She is the proud owner of a brand new bicycle, school uniform and backpack.  Kiran’s mother had previously struggled to make ends meet.  Today, she is growing wheat and millet on her farm for income using the Khadin method.  She has also planted green vegetables and fruits for nutrition.

Kiran’s mother is happy that she is now focussing on her studies.  She would like Kiran to get a good government job upon graduation.
