Leela

Until last year, Leela was trapped in a cycle of poverty.  She would walk hours across the desert in scorching heat to collect water.

Today, Leela’s family has clean water all year round thanks to their ’s brand new rainwater harvesting tank and filter.   She helps her mother to plant fruits and vegetables using the water from the tank.  Her mother has also planted fields of wheat and millet. Water from a brand new Khadin (farming dyke) irrigates her crops.

As a result, Leela is now going to school on her brand new bicycle.

Like her sister, Leela is very happy to receive the opportunity to complete her studies.  She is determined to make the most of her opportunity and has the full support of her family.
