Naina

As of last year, ten year-old Naina had not thought about going to school. She would spend hours each day collecting water. She had resigned herself to following in the footsteps of her mother.

Thanks to a brand new rainwater harvesting tank and biosand filter, today Naina’s family has clean water. Naina is now going to school on a brand new bicycle.  After school, Naina helps her mother to grow fruits and vegetables next to their rainwater harvesting tank.  Naina’s mother is also growing wheat and millet on her own farmland for income.  Water from a newly built Khadin (farming dyke) provides irrigation for her crops.

Naina is so happy to be able to go to school.  She is a keen student and aspires to become a teacher.
